the first time i saw alice she was walking door to door canvasing for the laubour party what a sight she looked scrufy old coat down at heel shoes she looked like an old female tramp whose that scruffy lady mum i said.

  She for us mum said she is here to help us all 

It was not long before Alice came over and talked to us her main argument or her sales pitch.   was all about the means of wealth and wealth production. I know how your suffering love she would say I'm in the same boat myself.  a little while after that encounter me and mum was near Leeds town hall when a large limousine roared up who got out but Alice attending a function for the dignitaries .What a transformation mink coat dripping in gold and diamonds shaking hands with all the other dignitaries .you could tell who was socialist and who was conservative the Conservatives wore lounge suit and the socialist dinner jacket 

Who look mum i said Alice has won the pools ,

Alice bacon served as an mp getting a comfortable living out of the socialist argument .

 THEN  like most socialist went and took her seat in the house of lords. 

just goes to show what a scruffy coat and down at heel shoes can do
